Kanchenjunga Trek

Trip Overview

Kanchanjunga is third highest peak of the world. You will notice pleasant villages in the high regions, glorious mountains and abundant wild life. It is located in the extreme northeast corner of Nepal bordering Sikkim (India) to the east and China to the North. You will see musk deer, blue sheep and for the believer, the Yeti! This trek begins at Tumlingtar or Taplejung accessible by air, or Ilam or Basantpur accessible by road. Soaring peaks, the Yalung Glacier and a wide variety of natural vegetation and agriculture areas can be seen in this region and magnificent views of Mt. Everest, Makalu and Kanchanjunga massif will make the trip memorable.

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu – transfer hotel – tour briefing

Day 02: A full day sightseeing tour within the Kathmandu valley

Day 03: Transfer airport – fly Taplejung – trek Kunjar (2300 m.)

Day 04: Kunjar / Ma Mankhe (2400 m.)

Day 05: Ma Mankhe / Chitre (3000 m.)

Day 06: Chitre / Tseram (Low) (3600 m.)

Day 07: Tseram / Lapsang (4200 m.)

Day 08: Lapsang / Ramche Base Camp (4850 m.)

Day 09: Ramche base Camp / Tseram (high) (3800 m.)

Day 10: Camp after Milgin-La (4200 m.)

Day 11: Mirgin-La / Ghunsa (3500 m.)

Day 12: Ghunsa / Lakep (4000 m.)

Day 13: Lakep / Ramtang (4700 m.)

Day 14: Ramtang / Lhonak (5000 m.)

Day 15: Lhonak / Pangpema (5000 m.)

Day 16: Pangpema / Khangpachen (3500 m.)

Day 17: Khangpachen / Phere (2800 m.)

Day 18: Phere / Amjilosa (2500 m.)

Day 19: Amjilosa / Tapethok (1800 m.)

Day 20: Tapethok / Lingkhim (1200 m.)

Day 21: Linkhim / Suketar

Day 22: Flight to Kathmandu – transfer hotel

Day 23: At leisure in Kathmandu

Day 24: Transfer airport – flight to onward destination

Food & accommodation

Food on Treks
In Kathmandu and Pokhara breakfast is included in your own hotel. For lunch and dinner you will find several Western and Nepalese restaurant.

During our kanchenjunga trek, you can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well as all types of international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). you can even enjoy hot chocolates, variety of breads, variety of drinks, and snacks. Breakfast and dinner will be served from the tea house or from a lodge menu where we spend the night and lunch will be served on the way to our destination.

Vegetarian foods on annapurna base camp trek
We always recommend our clients to eat vegetarian meals to avoid the food poisoning, eating heavy meals and non- vegetarian meals at the high altitude is not really safe for the stomach.

Accommodations in Kathmandu and Pokhara
You will stay 3 or 2 star hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara but on trek you will stay on Tea houses or lodges.

Accommodations on during the Trek
All accommodations for this trek are on twin sharing basis and are chosen based on standard of hygiene, standard of service and food, and location. There are two styles of accommodations during our trip. During the trek tea houses or lodges at some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. If we are a solo traveler, we will share a room with someone else of the same sex of our group. If we prefer a single room, we may indicate our preference and get single rooms upon request by paying a single supplement of USD 250. Note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevation but it might be difficult to find a single room at higher elevations.
