Suryachaur: The Best Viewpoint
Suryachaur, also known as Suirechaur, offers the most stunning viewpoint of the hike. From here, you can catch sweeping views of the Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal, and Gauri Shankar mountain ranges. The surrounding valleys, villages, and farmland add to the picturesque scene.
The Hike: Route and Experience
The hike begins at the Gurje Bhanjyang Army Check-post, located approximately 45 minutes from the city center by car. Early mornings are the best time to visit Suryachaur, as the mountains are often clear and bright before clouds roll in from the valleys. After soaking in the panoramic views, the journey heads back to Gurje Bhanjyang for a brief stop, before veering off into the forest for about three hours towards Tarakeshwor Temple.
This hike features several viewpoints along the way, offering stunning vistas of the Kathmandu Valley. Tarakeshwor Mahadev and Bhuwaneshwori temples are notable religious sites you’ll encounter during the trek.
